1. Saudi Arabia Plans Over 840 Facilities for Sustainable Waste Management by 2040 🌍♻️

Saudi Arabia is embarking on a significant shift towards sustainable waste management, with plans to establish more than 840 new facilities by 2040. This initiative, unveiled at the IFAT 2024 event in Munich, marks a pivotal move for the Kingdom, traditionally not known for its environmental stewardship. Sultan AlHarti, a key representative from the National Center for Waste Management, emphasized the Kingdom’s commitment to transforming its waste management infrastructure to align with global sustainability standards.

The comprehensive plan includes the development of recycling plants, waste-to-energy facilities, and organic waste processing units. These facilities aim to significantly reduce landfill usage, promote recycling, and harness waste for energy production. The ambitious project is part of Saudi Arabia’s broader Vision 2030 strategy, which seeks to diversify the economy and reduce its reliance on oil revenues by incorporating green and sustainable practices across various sectors.
